The mission of the Carteret County Sheriff's Office is to serve and protect the citizens of our county, state and country.

1. This office will secure an effective administration of the criminal laws of our county and state by investigating crimes, identifying suspects, apprehending criminals and preparing evidence for the court system.
2. The office will execute its duties which consist of maintaining safety and security of the court room, serving subpoenas, court summons, warrants, writs, and civil processes. Duties also include the extradition of prisoners, enforcement of money decrees, collection of taxes and performing any court related duties requested.
3. This office will protect the rights and dignity of all persons imprisoned. While confined, they will receive responsible care and supervision as required by statute.
4. This office will stand against those who choose lawlessness and wrongdoing instead of righteousness and freedom under the rule of law.
