Health Insurance is provided by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina to full-time employees and covers a wide variety of healthcare services.
Denal insurance is provided by Ameritas Life to full-time employees and covers a percentage of basic to major dental procedures.
North Carolina Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System
Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Carterert County contributes 7.07% of salary for regular employees and 7.28% for LEOB employees. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit.
The County contributes 5% of employees’ gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee’s deferral amount.
Group Life Insurance
The County pays for employee coverage of life insurance through Standard Life Insurance Company in the amount of $15,000. Supplemental insurance coverage is available for employee, spouse and children at an additional cost.
Vision Insurance is available at an additional cost through Superior Vision.
Regular full-time employees earn vacation days based on their longevity with the county beginning with 10 days per year. With each 2-5 year increment of employment, vacation accrual increases.
Regular full-time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year.
County employees receive paid holidays identified by the State of NC calendar.
