BEAUFORT, NC (08/25/15) – On 08/23/2015 Carteret County Deputies arrested registered sex offender Robert Hughes Springle, 62, of 232 E. Southwinds Dr, (Paradise East Subdivision) Newport after exposing himself to a neighbor. This latest exposure follows three previous incidents in 2011, 2012, and 2013. In September of 2014 Springle pled guilty to two felony counts of Indecent Exposure and served 343 days in jail and ordered on supervised probation. Springle was originally convicted of engaging in a lewd and lascivious act of indecent exposure in front of a child in 1988 and again in 2004 in the State of Florida. He was transferred to the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry in 2007 for the Florida conviction. Springle is considered a recidivist in NC and must remain on the registry for life. Springle was charged with one count of Indecent Exposure and placed in the Carteret County Jail under a $3,000.00 bond. Springle next court date is scheduled for September 9, 2015.
