Suspects may have stolen a 2001 Silver Hyundai Santa Fe, NC registration plate DCP-2811. This vehicle was stolen from Hwy 101 near the Carteret / Craven county line. Suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.
BEAUFORT – On 09/15/2015 Carteret County deputies arrested Brody George, 16, of Laurel Hill Drive, Havelock and Kimberly Dawn McLaughlin, 30, of 3106 Hwy 24, Newport following an armed robbery at the Midway Mart Convenience Store.
Deputies were called to the robbery located at 600 Island Road, Harkers Island just before 7:00pm Tuesday evening where the clerk reported three black males robbed the store at gunpoint and fled with over $1300.00 in cash.
Deputies quickly located the suspects vehicle on Harkers Island Road near Straits Rd where it failed to stop. The suspects led deputies on a fifteen mile chase through Otway on Hwy 70 west into the Town of Beaufort where the Beaufort Police Department deployed stop sticks at Campen Road successfully deflating two tires. The vehicle was able to continue through Beaufort down Hwy 101 where at least two suspects fled and two were taken into custody near Hardesty Loop Road.
Brody George has been charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. He is currently being held in the Carteret County Jail under a $100,000.00 bond. His first appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning, 09/16/2016.
Kimberly McLaughlin has been charged with accessory before the fact to a felony, conspiracy to co
mmit armed robbery, and accessory after the fact of robbery with a dangerous weapon. She is currently being held in the Carteret County Jail under a $125,000.00 bond. Her first appearance is scheduled for Wednesday morning, 09/16/2016.
Deputies have issued warrants for Adrian “AJ” Johnson, 19, of Beaufort for robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. His current whereabouts are unknown. Deputies are also seeking information a fourth subject nicknamed “Gutter” who is wanted for questioning. Anyone with information on Johnson or Gutter is asked to call Crime-stoppers or your local law enforcement agency. Both subjects should be considered armed and dangerous.
